Great News for Our Animal Friends!
Please visit our Forum - Most everything is posted on there now. :)
On a Lighter note....
I put this page up in order to bring to light the nice things that happen to our animal friends. It can get very discouraging and stressful just reading about all the inhumane treatment towards innocent animals.

Dog Transport from 01/27/2004
My friend Donna and I helped in transporting a rescued Pit mix traveling from Tioga County Rottie Angels, a rescue in Pennsylvania to Prince Edward Island in Canada. Jada, the sweet pit mix also had a traveling companion, Scooby a hound mix, who wasn't going as far, but kept her company up until Massachusetts. They were both extremely sweet and wanted to help navigate us navigate by overseeing where they were going. We were more than happy to help them get to their permanent families.
Click here to see some pics from their transport, their not that good cause I was driving while Donna tried taking the pictures and they were a bit curious as to what was going on.

ASPCA Legislative Alert
GREAT NEWS! THE CAPTIVE WILDLIFE SAFETY ACT WAS SIGNED BY PRESIDENT BUSH FRIDAY!
Last month, the U.S. Senate passed S. 269, which limits the keeping of lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, and cougars as pets by prohibiting the interstate transport of them for this purpose. A similar bill passed in the House of Representatives as well (H.R. 1006)! On Friday, President Bush signed the bill into law. The Captive Wildlife Safety Act will not only benefit many states that are considering similar legislation, but will also establish a consistent policy for all states.
This new legislation will prohibit the interstate transport and trade in lions, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, jaguars, and cougars intended for use as pets. Although these animals may seem playful and safe when young, they grow to become powerful and potentially dangerous animals as adults. We all have read about serious and deadly altercations involving many of these animals when kept in the home, or in captivity. These animals are wild by nature and should not be kept in captivity, except in certain facilities such as qualified and approved zoos and sanctuaries. The Captive Wildlife Safety Act will help insure the well-being of these beautiful creatures, as well as protect the public from the dangers inherent in keeping them as pets.
Thanks to all who took the time to contact their representatives and President Bush in support of this critical new law! Your letters made a difference!

Evan was extremely sweet, he sat on my lap the whole ride. Not that any dog deserves to be in a shelter, it's a crime that we have to have shelters for unwanted pets. But, Evan is just way too sweet, calm & well behaved to be in one. If our doggies didn't play so aggressive, we would have him at our house right now.

Please go to their adoption page and fill out the form provided at the above link if you wish to adopt any of them.

Rhodes to give Socks up for Adoptions!
7/18/2003

A man like that should not own a dog, and it's a relief that he realizes it. There are many reasons why Socks would've peed in his truck; could be from neglect, a nervous condition from abuse, never properly trained.... all avoidable if he was in the proper hands to begin with.
Now we just have to wait and see if he does the time - August 27th - court date.

Governor Rowland has signed H.B. 6066, which will allow animal control officers to bring animals to veterinarians for sterilization; H.B. 5530, which will allow courts to mandate that adult and juvenile animal abusers undergo psychological counseling or receive anti-cruelty education; and perhaps most momentously, H.B. 6038, which will prohibit the tethering or confinement of dogs for an unreasonable period of time and is the first state law of its kind in the country!
