Maisie, Dreugan, Brooklyn and Baloo

Awesome site!  My name is Kim and my husbands name is Keith.  I work with John and he's always telling me all about Zonka and about your dogs.  I have to say, you have four beautiful Pitbulls at your house!  I wanted to send pictures of our dogs and the little bit of dog wisdom below since you guys are the only other people I know that have four "bully breeds" at home.   Like you, three of ours are siblings and three were rescued.  Maisie is a 3 year old Pitbull that we adopted at the MSPCA in Springfield Mass when she was 7 months old.  Her previous owners were not supposed to have her where they lived and the landlord found out so they had to turn her in.  We were told she was home breed somewhere up in Springfield and I can only hope her litter mates ended up so lucky.  She's the best little dog and since she's the smallest of the four so we tend to baby her the most!  The other 3 are "Catahoula Bulldogs" a mix between the American Bulldog and the Catahoula Leopard Dog.  Down south, people use them to hunt boar but ours our more the "let me lay on the couch and have my belly rubbed" kind of dogs.   Dreugan we got from a breeder at 10 weeks old since they are so rare and we were really interested in the breed.  Later we adopted two of his siblings who found themselves in need of homes.  (We have a lot of friends in rescue and they call us when they find a Catahoula Bulldog at a pound.  We recognized Dreu's two siblings from the breeder's house and we have pictures of them all as puppies).  Brooklyn was found running the streets in Hartford and is partially blind and partially deaf.  She's our "special needs" dog but she's the most gentle and calm of the bunch.  Baloo was surrendered to the Manchester pound because he was to energetic.  We've only had him a short time and he's still learning his manners.  We couldn't be happier with our house full of bullies and I can see from your site that you couldn't be happier either.  It's nice to find out about people with whom we have so much in common!   Anyway, keep up the great work and give the dogs a hug for us!

More pics, They're of  Baloo after he'd been home for a couple weeks,

the four puppies together,

Keith with all the dogs,

me with Baloo,

and our CatBulls parents (the "JezRocMasq" photo)  Their mom, Jezebel, is on the
left and looks like Brooklyn but we think Brooklyn is cuter.  Their dad,
Rock, is in the middle.  He looks like Baloo but his eyes are darker.  Their
aunt "Masquerade" is on the right.  Notice that in the crates, baby Brooklyn
is on the far right and baby Baloo's butt is on the far left!!!

For somereason, in the pic with Keith, Dreu looks possessed and Maisie looks huge!
May is only 38 lbs--she walks under the other three!

If a Dog were the teacher you would learn stuff like.....
by Volker Weber

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps. Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your whole body.
No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout....run right back and make friends.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you're not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
And finally, Never trust anyone until you sniff their butt.
